Open Days
Both the Conservatoire and Birmingham City University hold regular Open Days.
Conservatoire Open Days are usually held in January and June and run from 10am to 4pm. The Days involve introductory talks, guided tours of the Conservatoire building, open rehearsals, performances and chances to meet staff and students. The atmosphere is informal and all visitors are welcome to attend and ask questions.
2010 Open Days
University Open Days take place on the University's main City North Campus (in Perry Barr). A Conservatoire staff or student representative is usually present to answer questions, however we would strongly recommend that you come to a Conservatoire Open Day if you can, as it will provide a much better picture of life as a Conservatoire student. (The Birmingham City University website has a listing of University Open Days, or you can contact Choices, the University's advice shop on Tel: 0121 331 5595 for further information.)

What if I can't attend an Open Day?
Our Open Days give you a chance to see the whole of the Conservatoire and to get a real sense of what it would be like to be a student here. They are an invaluable tool in making your decision about where to study. However, if you cannot attend one of our scheduled Open Days, you are welcome to visit us at
“Just a brief note to thank you and everyone else involved for putting together such a fascinating, valuable, (exhausting!) and hugely enjoyable day. I arrived as a complete ‘innocent’ but now have a really good handle on what’s on offer and more importantly a feel for the wonderful ‘family’ atmosphere which somehow, someway, you create. I can think of no more supportive environment in which to study, learn, develop and HAVE FUN making music. The skill, commitment and passion of all the teaching staff I met was inspirational and hope that I may be fortunate enough to enrol this September.”
Visitor from Oxford
any time of the year. Although you may not be able to see everything you would have on an Open Day, we will try to make your visit as full as possible and to introduce you to key members of staff in your specialist area. You may also be able to arrange a Consultation Lesson for the same day.
